About the Topic

Start the new year by participating in a timely panel discussion with three leading experts with diverse backgrounds in corporate sustainability, environmental strategy, and scenario planning.

Business leaders and strategists face significant challenges with increasing risks and uncertainties related to competition, globalization, fast-paced external changes, and environmental regulations. In order to prepare and make decisions with greater confidence, organizations are using conceptual frameworks, tools and scenario planning approaches to identify and consider strategic options. Panelists will present their perspectives related to the subject, provide case examples and join a moderated discussion.


About the Panelists


Clara Chow
Principal and Founder, Cura Consulting Group

 

Clara Chow's extensive background in management and sustainable development spans over 25 years. Her work encompasses: the creation of a framework for green business/sustainable enterprise; mapping out future-oriented and strategic organizational designs and structures; and a 360 analysis of business performance for investment and acquisition proposals. As a domain expert in sustainability, she specializes in organizational evaluations and the restructuring of medium-size companies; non-market analyses for corporate sustainability and investment opportunities; strategy and market development for start-ups and emerging companies in the green space; and environmental and regulatory assessments of clean technology alternatives.

Prior to founding Cura Consulting Group, Ms. Chow was part of the management team at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). She held senior positions at the EPA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. and at the agency's Boston and San Francisco regional offices. At the EPA, Ms. Chow facilitated the reorganization of the Boston office, created a strategic planning process to promote sustainability, developed and conducted technology transfer seminars for international partners, and established organizational dynamics and diversity training programs.

Ms. Chow authors and continues to lecture on a variety of sustainability topics, including leadership and ROI; optimizing the global supply chain and promoting innovations through green concepts; effective organizational designs/structures; and risk assessment/risk management/risk communication. In 1998, she was honored at EPA's Commemorative Poster of Contemporary Women Scientists and Engineers for "Making a Difference in Environmental Protection" and was awarded as one of the Top 50 Women in Science by the National Technical Association.

Ms. Chow is a Sloan Fellow graduate with a Master of Business Administration from the MIT Sloan School of Management. She also has a Masters in Environmental Engineering from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Tufts University.


Jennifer Dolin
Manager of Sustainability and Environmental Affairs, Osram Sylvania

 

Jennifer Dolin has been with OSRAM SYLVANIA since 2004, where she is the manager of sustainability and environmental affairs. She oversees environmental sustainability issues including the national lamp and ballast recycling program, greenhouse gas emissions reporting, and OSRAM SYLVANIA's Global Care corporate responsibility initiatives.

With 20 years of experience developing public and private environmental policy, her areas of expertise include lamp recycling programs, green building methods and solutions to combat climate change.

Ms. Dolin spent 10 years with the United States Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, DC, first as an early member of the ENERGY STAR® labeling team and then as the creator and manager of the SmartWay program for the Office of Transportation and Air Quality (OTAQ).

Ms. Dolin holds a masters degree from Tufts University in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Professionally, Ms. Dolin is a LEED® Accredited Professional, an original member of the BSR/ASHRAE/IESNA/USGBC Green Buildings Standards Project Committee 189, a member of the California AB1109 Lighting Task Force, chair of the Greenbuild Exhibitor Advisory Working Group, a founding board member of the North Shore Transportation Management Association, and a member of the TFM Green Building Advisory Board.

Paul Joseph
Professor, Babson Business School & Founder Contexed, LLC

 

Professor Joseph has almost twenty years of management, marketing and sales experience and more than fifteen years of high-tech industry experience. As a management consultant, Mr. Joseph works with founding management teams, senior executives, board members and investors. Past clients and employers include more than 100 organizations, ranging from seed stage and venture-capital backed start-ups to Fortune 100 manufacturers such as: Compaq, Intel, United Technologies Corporation, Dassault-SolidWorks, and Waveset Technologies.

Mr. Joseph has also headed up Product Marketing groups at two New England-based software companies, including Deploy Solutions (acquired by Kronos in 2007) and Netegrity (acquired by CA in 2005). While at CA, he was appointed to the transition team and worked closely with senior executive and strategy teams during both the Netegrity-CA company integration and the eTrust (Security division) business planning processes.

Mr. Joseph led a team of five product marketing professionals in the Identity and Access Management (IAM) product group which accounted for more than $300 million in annual revenue.

Prior to joining Netegrity, Mr. Joseph was Vice President of Simon Management Group (SMG), a management consulting firm founded by Bain and Co. alumnus, Peter Simon. While at SMG, Mr. Joseph opened and ran the firm's Austin, TX office and frequently worked with international clients seeking business partnerships and investment from U.S.-based businesses. For the five years prior to attending graduate school, Mr. Joseph was self-employed as co-founder and general manager of a successful services training business.

In 2009, Mr. Joseph established Contexed, LLC to more formally develop his consulting and executive training services business. Contexed provides management consulting and go-to-market advisory services to clients in the United States and Israel and its experience spans many vertical industries, products and solutions, and many types of businesses, including: hardware, software, SaaS and services providers.
