Amie Cafferty is Team Lead of Talent Acquisition Strategic Sourcing at Philips Electronics North America.

Steve Ford

Stephen C. Ford has advised individuals and organizations on developing careers, assessing and developing leaders and managing transitions. He was a founding partner of OI Partners, Inc., a global talent management firm specializing in outplacement, career transition and executive coaching. From 1992 to 1995, Steve served as CEO and Chair when OIP tripled in size and became global; he has since served twice as Interim Chair. He is currently Chairman Emeritus. Steve was a founder of Fitzgerald, Stevens & Ford in 1981 and has been CEO since 1987. Previously he founded two other service companies.

Larry Kahn is the Vice President of Recruiting for New Dimensions in Technology (commonly known as "NDT”). As a hands-on Recruiter in High Tech for over 16 years, Larry has a strong pulse on the job market and is deeply connected with hiring managers and human resources professionals at start-up, mid-size, and large companies.

Larry Kahn

Christie Powell has worked in Human Resources over two dozen years, all of which have included recruitment for a variety of positions. She is employed with Copyright Clearance Center as their HR Manager and offers hands on experience in the current market. Previous to CCC, she was Assistant Vice President at the Bank of Boulder in Colorado.

A graduate of the University of Colorado, Christie is a long time resident of Gloucester, MA where she lives with her daughter. She has completed the Sloan Executive Business program, has a coaching certificate from Babson College and is a certified MBTI practitioner.

Liz Vagenas

Elizabeth C. Vagenas is a former Human Resource Manager and Trainer with over 22 years of Staffing experience, serving as a leader of and a consultant to corporations on a local and global level. Additionally, she is a Life Coach specializing in Life Transitions, Executive and Career coaching, and is a Radio Show Talk Show host. As a former Vice President of Staffing and Development, Liz has managed multiple office locations for several corporations and has served as a corporate recruiter, staffing advisor and trainer. Liz’s many accomplishments during this time include repeatedly increasing profitability by massive margins.

In addition to her consultative and creative management expertise, Liz offers extensive knowledge in the areas of behavioral interviewing techniques, screening and selecting top candidates, and evaluating current staffing processes. Liz has served on the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Association of Staffing Services, is an Advisory Board member of the National Green Symposium Organization. She has also served as an advisor to the Boston Public School System’s Job Placement Advisory Council, and her volunteer community involvement includes a membership with the Boston Minstrels Group, a singing group that performs for the homeless shelters, and nursing homes in the city of Boston. She is currently writing a book on Life Transitions, and Stepping out.

About the moderator:

Tamsin Kaplan

An experienced employment lawyer and civil litigator, Tamsin Kaplan, represents corporations, executives and other high level professionals in discrimination, breach of contract, non-compete and other employment and business related matters in Massachusetts and federal courts and in government agencies including the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination. Tamsin advises clients regarding the full range of employment related legal concerns, from recruitment and hiring to discipline and termination. She also provides her corporate clients with employment agreements, employee handbooks, employment audits, workplace investigations and trainings on diversity, harassment, and other topics. Since 1998, Tamsin’s alternative dispute resolution practice has included mediation of business and employment disputes and other civil litigation matters.

Tamsin currently serves as an arbitrator on the American Arbitration Association Expedited Commercial Panel. For over ten years, Tamsin was the Principal in the law firm of Tamsin R. Kaplan & Associates, P.C. She has enjoyed an active employment law and litigation practice in Massachusetts since 1994, prior to which she served as a Law Clerk and Regional Administrative Law Clerk in the Massachusetts Superior Court. Before entering law school, Tamsin was an organizational development consultant for non-profit institutions including performing arts companies and museums in the Boston area.
