Throughout history breakthrough industries and technologies sometimes seem to sneak up on our collective consciousness without notice. However in every case, there was an entrepreneur with the vision and courage to break away from the herd mentality and pursue opportunities that others failed to appreciate — at the time. How do you find these hidden gems, and how do you get financing from potentially skeptical investors? How do you validate an opportunity if no one else is chasing it? Join us to hear how innovators successfully navigated these roads less taken, and how they are continuing to pursue opportunities beyond what’s hot right now.

About the speaker:

Nataly Kogan is the Co-Founder and CEO of Happier, based in Boston. Inspired by research on happiness, the company’s mission is to inspire millions of people to do more of what makes them happier. Nataly has held top positions at WHERE (sold to PayPal), Microsoft’s Future of Social Experiences Lab (FUSE), McKinsey & Co., and Hudson Ventures, a venture capital firm in New York, and founded the online community for working mothers and a publishing company for students. Nataly and her parents immigrated to the U.S. from the former Soviet Union when she was thirteen and she graduated with University Honors from Wesleyan University. Nataly lives outside Boston with her husband and young daughter but is forever a New Yorker at heart. Elaine C. Haney, CEO and President, Tributes, Tributes.com is the online source for current local and national obituary news and a supportive community where friends and family can come together during times of loss and grieving to honor the memories of their loved ones with lasting personal tributes.
