Meet the authors of "Design Sprint," one of the hottest new books about digital product design. C. Todd Lombardo is an outstanding product thought leader who was the keynote speaker at last year's Product Camp. Richard Branfield is CEO and co-founder of Fresh Tilled Soil and has a broad, global background in product and marketing.

C. Todd and Richard will provide an introduction to the design sprint process, focusing on the first phase of a design sprint: Understand. This short talk will be all about understanding the elements of a design sprint: how and why they work, in what situations they are useful, how to implement them in your organization, and what happens after you've completed one.

About the Speakers
C. Todd Lombardo, Chief Design Strategist at Fresh Tilled Soil
C. Todd Lombardo is a leader who wears many hats, all at once: author, designer, scientist, professor, and visualizer. After originally beginning his career in science, C. Todd shifted his focus to product and design, ultimately innovating, designing, and managing products for countless companies large and small. In his role as Chief Design Strategist at Fresh Tilled Soil, he employs strategic thinking to craft smart, impactful solutions that radically transform clients’ product strategies. C. Todd serves as Adjunct Faculty at IE Business School in Madrid, and co-authored the book "Design Sprint," published by O'Reilly.

Richard Banfield, CEO and co-founder of Fresh Tilled Soil
After completing a degree in Biology, Richard was attracted to the world of web technologies and worked his way up the digital food chain, starting with online ad sales at MultiChoice, Africa’s largest TV and Internet media business. He was in the thick of it during the dot-com years, co-founding Acceleration, an international advertising technology business headquartered in London (now owned by advertising giant WPP).
Richard has delivered product design, high-level business strategy, global marketing campaigns, and workshops to clients in the US, UK, Europe, and Africa. His colorful life experience includes being an officer in the army and being a dive master on the remote Islamic Republic of the Comoros, where he learned the survival skills he uses daily in the fast paced tech world. Richard is a mentor at several incubators and accelerators as well as Advisor and lecturer at the Startup Institute.
Richard recently published two books. Design Leadership is his second book published by O’Reilly. The first was Design Sprint: A Practical Guidebook for Building Great Digital Products, which he coauthored with CTodd Lombardo and Trace Wax.
