This formal event will focus on the future of product management and introduce you to the vision of the Boston Product Management Association and member community.
In the coming year, the BPMA is expanding our programming and looking toward our future and the future of product professionals. At this grand event, we will officially launch this 2013 expansion, including our new Practitioner's Workshop Series, Executive Series, and our line up of upcoming monthly events and member activities.
The evening will feature:
- Private pre-event networking and electricity theater show for Premiere ticket holders

It’s one thing to build a product … but have you and your company considered the implications of who that product is designed for and how you are going to reach and serve that audience effectively as it changes over time?
Many companies develop products without truly considering the customer segments on which to best focus, and to subsequently understand how to go-to-market in effective, scalable, and affordable ways. Not every company can be all things to all audiences, and having a targeted approach, and especially understanding one’s key strengths and available resources at any given time, is critical.
Mike Volpe, CMO of HubSpot, will provide key insights from his years of experience developing a successful start-up from the ground up; add to that the fact that HubSpot itself helps hundreds of businesses take advantage of inbound marketing and online techniques to better understand and address targeted customers and prospects.
Mike will share key thoughts on his view of what the next generation of product management and marketing will look like as the pace of innovation increases alongside inevitable changes in customer expectations and market focus.

Keynote Speaker: Mike Volpe
Chief Marketing Officer, HubSpot
Mike Volpe joined HubSpot in early 2007 as the company's fifth employee and currently serves as chief marketing officer. He heads HubSpot's lead generation and branding strategy through inbound marketing, including blogging, search engine optimization, video marketing, and social media. Since Mike joined HubSpot, the company has grown from 10 to 5,000 customers, expanded from 5 to 300 employees, and raised $65 million in venture capital.
Under Mike's leadership, HubSpot's marketing has won more than 30 marketing awards and has been featured in over 20 marketing and business books. Mike is a cutting-edge B2B inbound marketer who speaks at numerous conferences, hosts a weekly live marketing video podcast called HubSpotTV, is one of the 100 most popular marketers on Twitter, consistently posts on blog.hubspot.com, and appears as a marketing speaker at industry conferences. He has also guest lectured at Harvard Business School, Babson University, Carnegie Mellon, TCU, Boston University, and MIT Sloan School of Management.
Before HubSpot, Mike worked as the director of marketing operations at SolidWorks Corp., an engineering software company, where he managed all of the company's global lead generation and lead management, advertising, Internet marketing, branding, PR, tradeshows, and events. He transitioned SolidWorks from outbound marketing to inbound marketing by launching multiple blogs, starting podcasting, incorporating social bookmarking into press releases, initiatingpay-per-click marketing, performingsearch engine optimization (SEO), and launching multiple new global websites in a variety of languages.
Prior to SolidWorks, Mike held marketing and business development positions at enterprise software and consumer Internet startup companies in the San Francisco Bay Area, and he also worked as a financial analyst at a technology industry investment bank.
Mike is an MBA graduate of the MIT Sloan School of Management and received his BA in Economics and Government, summa cum laude, from Bowdoin College. He is a former director of the alumni fund at Bowdoin College and a co-founder and former director of the Boston Scholars Program, a Boston volunteer organization. At MIT, Mike won the Patrick McGovern award for his contributions to entrepreneurship and the Peterson merit scholarship for his contributions to the community and academic performance. He is also an avid golfer and enjoys playing recreational ice hockey and working on home improvement projects.
