Mak Joshi, President
Mak Joshi has been actively involved with the BPMA over past several years. This includes volunteer roles on the Partnerships Committee and the Executive Mentorship Council. Most recently, he has been on the BPMA Board as Director of Sponsorships.
Outside BPMA, Mak is an accomplished Product Professional in the Energy Sector, currently working as Director of Product Management at Schneider Electric, a Global Leader in Energy Management. Mak’s experience in the Energy Sector includes a Clean Energy Fellowship with the prestigious New England Clean Energy Council and two Start-ups he co-founded. His most recent start-up, Grid Sensor proposed several innovative solutions for Electric Distribution Grid Automation and Mak was invited by the US CTO to present at a Showcase event at the White House. Previously, Mak has consulted as an Energy Expert for the Electric Utility Sector, MA Clean Energy Center, the Canadian Consulate at Boston and other Governmental Agencies. Mak also holds leadership roles with TiE-Boston as Chair - Energy and Cleantech SIG and NH High Tech Council on their Entrepreneur Forum.
Mak has a BS and MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
Bruce McCarthy, Vice President
Having spent a lifetime as a builder and innovator, Bruce has a passion for understanding customer needs and creating compelling solutions. He has founded three companies and has led teams in organizations ranging from startups to market leaders such as Art Technology Group, Oracle and D&B. His executive-level positions include, most recently, VP of Product at NetProspex. He has demonstrated his leadership in areas ranging from marketing to acquisitions (on both sides of the table) to product management and development. A dedicated evangelist for better products and product management, Bruce founded UpUp Labs in 2012. Through it, he offers consulting services and applies his expertise to building innovative new product management tools like Reqqs the forthcoming smart roadmapping tool. Bruce is also a prolific blogger on product management topics, as well as an organizer and popular speaker at product management, development, and innovation events.
Jay Janardhan, Secretary
Jay Janardhan is a results-driven software professional with a focus on emerging technologies. He has more than 15 years of experience in various areas of the software industry including product management, project management, team building and general management. Jay is currently focused on SaaS and IaaS Cloud solutions for enterprise data centers, particularly using Openstack and open source projects. Jay has an MBA from the University of New Hampshire and BE from University of Mysore, India.
Andrew Shepard, Treasurer and President Emeritus
Andrew develops and implements product and company strategies to improve profitability throughout the value chain. Andrew has extensive experience across the Transportation, Appliance, Paper, and Hi-Tech industries. Andrew is recognized for his success as a Six-sigma Black Belt and Kaizen facilitator. As a Global Director of Market Management at Hollingsworth & Vose, Andrew is researching, designing and leading strategic long-range plans, internal process improvements and innovative new product introductions. He holds an MBA with Highest Honors from Boston University and a Double Major, Engineering and English, from Dartmouth College.

Paul Ressler, Director of Programming
Paul Ressler is the principal of The Cirrostratus Group and provides consulting services for SaaS and cloud computing providers. Paul’s practice focuses on service delivery, developing new SaaS and cloud service offerings, SaaS conversion and SaaS business strategy. He has worked in executive roles in general management, operations, service delivery, and professional services within SaaS, Cloud Computing, and Managed Services businesses and has a BS in Computer Science from MIT and an MBA from Northeastern University.
William Geller, Director of Marketing
William Geller is an accomplished international senior product management and marketing professional with 15 years of experience. William currently consults to technology firms, both in the US and abroad, to drive strategic product development, organizational expansion into new markets, and sales and marketing programs to drive revenue and market share. William is currently an advisor to several technology startups, a co-chair of the Lean Startup Challenge, and mentors promising students through Babson's CLTP mentoring program. He holds an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Global Strategy from Babson College's F.W. Olin School of Business and a BSEE from Drexel University.
Sarah Ptalis, Director of Mentorship
Sarah Ptalis has more than 10 years of experience in software product development with a focus in operations and eCommerce solutions. As a software product professional, Sarah brings a passion for solving small business problems by creating exceptional user experiences. She is currently responsible for the domain name aftermarket products at GoDaddy. As the Director of Mentorship for BPMA, Sarah helps product managers and product marketers connect with local area executives to cultivate a career oriented mentorship. Sarah has a BS in Information Systems with a minor in Computer Science from the University of Vermont. Gisela Bauerle, Director of Online Community & Web Support
Gisela Bauerle is a product manager, marketer and sales enabler with extensive e-commerce solutions experience in the global software and technology industry. In her profession and in her role at the BPMA, she balances business requirements with technical capabilities to deliver web solutions combining function and design for meaningful user-centered experiences. Gisela has a BA from Simmons College in International Management with German and French.
Rich Ross has an extensive background in commercializing new products, including strategic planning, product planning, product development, transition to manufacturing, and cost optimization throughout the various stages of the product lifecycle. He is currently Vice President, Product Management at LoJack where he is responsible for the definition, development, and delivery of the product portfolio and overall roadmap. Prior to that, Rich served on the Board of Directors for SC Integrity as well as several executive positions at LoJack in Supply Management, Product Development and Supply Chain. He also held positions in various roles in Product Management since joining LoJack in 2003. Jane Fine, Director of Alliances
Jane has been a principal of Fine Edge since 1999, a B2B primary market research and strategy firm to the software and service industries, where she works with technology clients on business development, sales/market strategy and competitive intelligence. For the last 2 years she has focused on technology clients targeting education. (K-12, Higher Education, and Corporate Education). Her clients have included Perkins Products (Perkins School for the Blind), myEdGPS., and Zulama. Her prior experience includes roles as Vice President of Business Development in a software start-up and field sales of outsourced document management services for Xerox Corporation. In her role of Director of Alliances, Jane has managed a team since 2009 that has developed relationships that have provided joint programming and member benefits and event discounts to BPMA members. (For example, Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals, MIT Enterprise Forum, ENET, Association of Strategy Professionals). Prior to assuming the position of BPMA Director of Alliances, Jane has held the roles of BPMA Director of Marketing and Alliance Manager. Jane has earned a B.S. in Education from Lesley University, an M.Ed from Cambridge College, and Certificates of Professional Achievement in Product Management from UC Berkeley Center for Executive Education and Data Systems Technology from Northeastern University.
David White is a sales and marketing professional with both the passion and skill to help sales teams sell more. His career spans companies big and small and encompasses a knowledge of many industries. For example, David has fulfilled sales and marketing roles with Oracle, IBM Cognos, Progress Software, Dimensional Insight and Telseon. Most recently he worked as a research analyst focused on the business intelligence and analytics market for both the Aberdeen Group and the ARC Advisory Group. David has a BS in computer science and an MBA from Cranfield University in the UK. In his spare time, he coaches soccer and is on a mission to bake the perfect baguette.
Lalit Shinde, Director of Membership
Lalit Shinde is an incisive, results-driven, strategic delivery director and visionary technology executive at Juniper Networks. He has an exceptional record of identifying market opportunities, developing breakthrough products and driving product introductions to generate significant revenue, competitive advantage and market share. Prior to his current role in Corporate Strategy and Go-to- Market, he held positions within Product Management, Business Development, Engineering, and as a Managing and Technical consultant. He is able to combine technology, market, customer and competitive information with trends to identify significant market opportunities to drive the product roadmap. He has a demonstrated track record of developing highly profitable, disruptive technology products to cater to the evolving next generation of cloud-based, mobile, and high-iq networks.
Phil Faulkner, Director of Event Operations
Philip is Head of Marketing for a SaaS collaborative decsion making software firm, He has extensive global experience in solution management and product marketing of enterprise software and SaaS offerings with IBM, EMC and MetraTech. Within these product roles, the focus has been on early customer programs, field testing and disruptive product roll-out. In his off time, he is a mentor with WPI TAN group and for several local startups. Philip received an MBA from Boston College and an BA in Economics from the Whittimore School of Business.
Hally Pinaud, Director of Online Content
Hally Pinaud's background includes work with many facets of technology marketing, most recently as a member of the Product Marketing team at PeopleFluent. Prior to this role, she also spent time at Harte Hanks/Aberdeen Group and Boston area start-ups. Hally holds a BS in Marketing from Bentley University and an MBA in Product and Brand Management from Boston College. As Content Director, she oversees the BPMA's growing online content program.
Greg Ayres, Director of Volunteers
Greg Ayres is a product innovation manager in the healthcare industry with a focus on agile software development. He has extensive experience across the Transportation, Healthcare, Energy, and Defense industries. Greg is recognized for his success through certifications from the Project Management Institute and Pragmatic Marketing. In his spare time Greg donates his energy and effort to a nonprofit that helps Boston Public School students grow personally and succeed academically. Greg holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, and a BSE in Mechanical Engineering, with a Certificate in Public & International Affairs, from Princeton University.
